Multi-tasking...

Ever since I walked across the blanket last weekend, I've been walking more and more every day. Mommy did some fake math and she thinks I'm probably walking about 25% of the time now. It takes lots of practice, but I honestly walk better when I'm distracted by something else. Sometimes it's another person or a toy that I'm holding.

Here was today's distraction...
I'm so silly!

Working Girl

Today I worked two jobs! First I got to work on my laptop. But I got comfy in my bean bag as I did it.

Then I went to the farm. My family is part of a CSA with our friends. We work some hours on the farm and we get fresh organic veggies every week from now through October. Here I am with my peeps Solomon and Linnea.

We had a great afternoon weeding some parsnips and then we got some ice cream on the way home! Great way to end a tough day at work.

Water and Walkin'

I decided to get up really early today. That usually happens. If I stay up late, I get up early. I don't get it either. At any rate, that meant that I took a 3-hour morning nap! After lunch, Mommy broke out my water table that Mimi and Papa bought me for my birthday! It was really nice out, but very windy, so Mommy just let me play with it in the house.
And I kept practicing my walking, too. In fact, I took 11 consecutive steps at one point! I'll be running before you know it! We all had a great day getting things done around the house today. Back to real life tomorrow.

The Annual Memorial Weekend BBQ!

Today marked the 2nd year in a row that I was at the family Memorial Weekend BBQ. Last year, Mommy and Daddy left the hospital and took me to my first party (I was 4 days old!) This year, I got to set up my own play area for the afternoon.
Here I am playing with my cousin Carissa.

And I also got to celebrate my birthday for a 5th time! I did a really good job getting the cake everywhere, doncha think?

Then, I got to open presents from all my family. They are so sweet to spoil me rotten!

I spent a lot of the afternoon sitting in Mommy's beach chair chatting with Auntie Di.

Here I am sitting with Daddy watching the traditional lighting of the Christmas Tree. Yes, we torch a dried tree every year. Weird, I know, but really exciting to watch!

Oh yeah, I forgot one thing. I walked today! I had taken a few stumbling/falling steps before, but today I was standing, I squatted, stood back up and took 4 steps across the blanket! I figured that now that I'm a big girl, I should probably act like it.

After a long day of playing and eating, we had a campfire and I finally fell asleep on Mommy. What a day!

Nesting the Day Away

I've been climbing all over everyone and everything lately. Today I finally discovered just how cool the beanbags are in our living room. I brought my new stuffed animals (including my new giraffe from the zoo!) and some new books over and just chilled out and read for a bit. What a great way to spend the morning.

This Birthday Never Ends!

When we got home from the zoo there was more birthday madness! Karen and Peter sent me lots of balloons and a soft teddy bear!

And then I got to open all the packages with my name on them! Auntie Heidi, Uncle Richard, and Mason sent me some pretty dresses, a few books and an awesome music table.

And Granny and Poppa mailed a snuggly lamb and even more books!

The rest of my birthday was spent playing with my parents and all my new loot. I think birthdays are super-duper, but they are very exhausting. Good thing they are only once a year!

This Place is a Zoo! (aka My Birthday!)

It finally arrived! Today is my birthday! I knew it was because when I woke up Mommy AND Daddy came into my room in the morning and sang the "Happy Birthday" song to me! They said we were going to have a really fun day and they were right! When it was nap time, we packed up the car and drove for awhile. I fell asleep and when I woke up we were at the Roger Williams Zoo! I had never been to the zoo before, but my friend Griffin and his Mommy met us there for a birthday surprise!

Here is the one family shot from the day that Griffin's Mom took.

Here we are checking out the camels!

Mommy packed us a yummy picnic lunch!

Here I am pointing at the giant anteater! (I did a lot of pointing all day long!)

Here we are in our matching strollers!

Griffin, look...it's a giraffe!

I think the zoo is my new favorite!

What a fabulous afternoon! We were there for 4 hours and, of course, I passed out in the car on the way home. I can't wait to go to the zoo again. Thanks to Griffin and his mom for bringing me to the zoo and for the animal crackers and matching zoo onesie!

Birthday Party #3!

I'm the luckiest girl in the world! Today Mommy baked strawberry cupcakes! She cooks a lot but she never bakes so I knew something must have been up. Sure enough when I woke up from my nap, 3 of my friends were there to celebrate my birthday! What a fun day. First we all had lunch followed by the singing of the special birthday song with my name in it!
Here I am patiently waiting to touch the fire on my cupcake!
And here's a shot of me and my friends Conor, Jenny, and Eleni eating cupcakes!

After being sufficiently stuffed, Eleni and I got to work on a puzzle.

Then Conor and I played house.

And I acted silly with Eleni's mom. She looks like she has a secret!

What a blast! I was so tired that I took a long nap and woke up to watch Daddy mow the lawn. I yelled to him from the window for half an hour but he couldn't hear me. Anyway, Mommy told me that there are still many days of birthday celebrations to come! Yippee!!!

A Kid in the Kitchen

Mimi bought me singing letters for my birthday. They go on the fridge and I like to keep pressing the buttons over and over again. Plus, I'm just being cute. That is all.

Cape Cod - Day Three - Part Two

Great-Grampie read me some stories before my afternoon nap. He does a good job...he must have lots of practice. I love him!

After my nap, Mimi and Great Auntie Patti took me swimming. Here I am doing my best pointing at Daddy behind the camera.

Everyone noticed that I cross my ankles even under water! Here I am doing my best supermodel pose. What a babe!

And then I did lots of splashing and kick, kick, kicking.

I'm really going to miss spending time with my extended family. They showered with me presents, fun times, and lots of love.

Cape Cod - Day Three - Part One

Mommy was determined to get me to take a morning nap. She promised that the nap would make that "special afternoon" all that much better. I didn't know what she meant, but being the perfect girl that I am, I took a 2 hour morning nap. When I woke up, Mimi dressed me in a beautiful party dress. Guess what...it was a birthday party for me!

Now, let me give you a play-by-play of how birthday parties go. First, people put on party hats (which I hate!) and sing to you while lighting a cake on fire. Then they make you stick your hand in it.
But, then they let you eat the cake! And often give you ice cream, too. Here I am demonstrating a very advanced move: cake in one hand, spoonful of ice cream in the other. Mommy is always talking about efficiency...she's right...that makes a lot of sense!

You have to pose for a lot of pictures with your parents...but I didn't mind that at all. They're cool.

Finally, you get to open presents! My family just spoiled me rotten! I got lots of clothes and new toys to play with including my first pinwheel...

and my first baby doll!

Birthdays are awesome. Time for a nap!

Cape Cod - Day Two

Today was Uncle Steven and Auntie Kristen's graduation party! We went to a fun restaurant and had delicious food and cake, too! And lots more family and friends were there, too. Here I am with my Mimi! I don't get to see her much, but I talk to her on the phone a lot. Anyway, I was so excited to see her!

And here is a four generations shot of me, Mommy, Mimi, and Great-Grandma!

My great-grandma was very silly. She played with me a lot and we laughed.

After the restaurant, Grampy and I took a nap while everyone went to the after-party. I woke up in time for the after-after party and I got to see Uncle Tommy! I smothered him with kisses!

And wouldn't you know it, I have no photos with Uncle Steven or Auntie Kristen, but I did get this photo taken of me and Andrea (Kristen's sister). Close enough, right?

We still have two more days of Cape Cod. I don't know how much more fun I can fit into my life! I guess we'll see tomorrow!

Cape Cod - Day One

Today was so much fun! Mommy and I picked up Daddy at the airport last night and we drove all the way down to Cape Cod! We're all here to celebrate Uncle Steven's graduation from college! He's all smart and stuff. Anyway, the rest of us were lucky to have a reason to go on an extra long weekend away and do lots of fun stuff!

Here I am swimming in the big pool with Mommy. She's helping me practice floating on my back.

After all that swimming, I passed out in my pack-n-play for a long morning nap!

Later that afternoon Memere and Great-Grampie arrived and Memere read me lots of stories.

And Auntie Becky pushed me around in my toy bin. Fun times.

I ended the day snuggling with my Daddy. Mommy says we're gonna have a lot of fun this weekend. I can't wait! :-)

Getting Into Trouble...

Well, Mommy and I spent the day at home together and it was a alot of fun. We lounged in our pj's all day and played with puzzles and toys and took a few naps, too. I continued doing silly (and naughty) things. Whenever I know I'm doing something wrong, I look right at Mommy and give her a HUGE smile. Then I hand her whatever I have that I'm not supposed to have. Unless it's a pen...I always hold on tight to any pen I find. Anyway, today was no different. Here I am getting into things I shouldn't...well not yet anyway...

Do you think I need a haircut or what? Mommy says "no way!" But, I can't even see!

Anyway, then my favorite guy came home and read me some stories. What a great day with the parents. I better enjoy them now, while I'm still young enough to like them.
